A Nashik-based start-up has recently launched a new software solution for agriculture drones that promises to revolutionize the way farmers in India approach crop management. The software, developed by the start-up, aims to provide farmers with real-time information about their crops, allowing them to make data-driven decisions and improve their yield.

Aeromegh develop new software for drones in agriculture
The software, AeroGCS Green, developed by Passenger Drone Research Private Limited, helps farmers to map entire field and lanes, where spraying needs not be done, specify the quantity of pesticides to be sprayed etc., thus helping in cost-effective spraying that can be accomplished in minutes as against hours required for activity.
Claiming that the software developed by the 55-member team is one of the first to comply with the safety norms laid down by Drone Rules 2022, the company’s chief executive officer, Anil Chandaliya, said, “Our USP is customer-oriented approach, user-friendly interfaces and workflow that helps in appropriate spraying and saving cost.” Thechief executive officer said that with the use of the software, farmers could precisely decide on the amount of pesticide to be spread on crops, which would ensure that farmers or labourers are nowhere in the danger zone of pesticides.
“Ours is a completely indigenous software, which also allows mapping of islands (wells, pump houses, etc) where spraying should not be done or trees, power lines that need to be avoided,” the CEO added
India’s agriculture sector is the backbone of the country’s economy, and technology has played a significant role in driving innovation in the sector. Drones have emerged as a promising solution for precision agriculture, allowing farmers to monitor their crops, detect pests and diseases, and optimize water and fertilizer use. However, the lack of user-friendly software solutions has been a major hindrance to widespread adoption of drones in Indian agriculture.
The Nashik-based start-up’s new software solution is poised to address this challenge, offering a user-friendly interface that simplifies drone operations and data analysis. The software has been specifically designed for agriculture drones, taking into account the unique challenges and requirements of crop management in India.
Features and Benefits of the New Software: The new software for agriculture drones offers a wide range of features and benefits that are expected to be a game-changer for farmers in India. Some of the key features and benefits include:
Real-time crop monitoring: The software allows farmers to monitor their crops in real-time, providing them with instant insights into crop health, growth, and productivity. This helps farmers identify potential issues early on, such as pest infestations, nutrient deficiencies, or water stress, and take corrective measures before it’s too late.
Automated data analysis: The software is equipped with machine learning algorithms that analyze data collected by the drone, enabling farmers to identify patterns and trends in their crops’ performance. This helps farmers make informed decisions about crop management, such as adjusting irrigation schedules, changing fertilizer applications, or identifying areas for improvement.
User-friendly interface: The software has a user-friendly interface that simplifies drone operations and data analysis. Farmers can easily set up the drone, plan and execute missions, and analyze data, even without any prior experience with drones or data analytics.
Customizable reports: The software generates customizable reports that provide farmers with a comprehensive overview of their crop’s performance. Farmers can choose to focus on specific parameters, such as yield, quality, or water use efficiency, and track their progress over time.
Cost-effective solution: The software is a cost-effective solution for precision agriculture, as it allows farmers to optimize their inputs and resources, leading to increased yields and profitability. Moreover, the software can be integrated with existing drones, eliminating the need for farmers to purchase expensive new equipment.
Implications for Indian Agriculture: The Nashik-based start-up’s new software solution has significant implications for Indian agriculture, as it provides farmers with a powerful tool for precision agriculture. Precision agriculture has the potential to revolutionize the way farmers manage their crops, reducing waste, increasing efficiency, and improving yields.
The use of drones in agriculture has been gaining traction in recent years, but the lack of user-friendly software solutions has been a major hindrance to widespread adoption. The Nashik-based start-up’s new software is expected to overcome this challenge, making it easier and more accessible for farmers to use drones for crop management.
The use of technology in agriculture has been a key priority for the Indian government, with initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, the e-NAM platform, and the Kisan Credit Card scheme, aimed at promoting innovation and digitization in the sector. The Nashik-based start-up’s new software solution is in line with this vision, providing farmers with a powerful tool for precision agriculture that aligns with the government’s goal of doubling farmers’ income by 2022.
