Ministry of Civil Aviation grants exemptions to Ministry of Agriculture for utilising drones for spraying pesticides on crops for anti-locust operations

In a monumental move, The Ministry of Civil Aviation grants exemptions to the Directorate of Plant Protection under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare to use drones for utilising drones for spraying pesticides on crops that have been affected by locust outbreaks.

Drones that are equipped to spray pesticides on to crops are going to play a pivotal role to curb such outbreaks . As per the order the Directorate of Plant Production may use their own drones or utilise the services of a drone service provider for the same.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has also issued adequate guidelines to be followed for such operations so that safety of operations is not compromised.
